With 24 slots available, a lot of big names were expected to miss out. Trae Young, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Davis and De'Aaron Fox missed the cut even though one can make a strong case for each of those players.

The Beard is averaging 21.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 11 assists per game. He has been influential for the Sixers who currently occupy third place in the Eastern Conference.

Harden's fury

The 33-year-old has played in 34 of Sixers' 50 games, which is only 68%. For any NBA player to appear in NBA's statistical leaderboards, they must play a minimum of 70% of his team's games, per ESPN.

Harden’s 11.0 assists would be leading the NBA if he was on the leaderboard. Tyrese Haliburton currently leads with 103 assists per game and deservedly got his first All-Star berth.

Harden posted a telling story on Instagram after the reserves were named.

"The disrespect."

Here are other reactions from other Sixers players after Harden's snub. Joel Embiid who was named as reserve, despite leading the NBA in points per game shared his teammate's disappointment.

Fans reactions to Harden's snub

There were mixed reactions to Harden's snub from fans. Here are some of them

@susan1234456789:

"James Harden is leading the league in assists per game. Put some respect on his name."

@Tella1Truth:

"How u gonna miss 20 games then complain about not making it lol."

@wildAhhNig:

"Ain’t no way he’s hurt over not making the all star game. So many more deserving players ahead of him. It’s okay to step back and let the other guys shine for once. It’s just an all star game lol for some of these guys it’s the one thing keeping them from a super max."

@Chibwekapalajnr:

"Harden probably always the most disrespected player in the league."

@michaelisracing:

"The crying. Should focus on appearing in the playoffs for a change."

All-Star reserves named

Sports Brief earlier reported on the 2023 All-Star reserves, the biggest snubs and surprises ahead of the event later this month.

The 14 reserve teams are made up of two backcourt and three frontcourt players from each conference. It also includes two "wild-card" selections that could come from any position.

The seven reserves from the East and West were selected by the league's head coaches who voted in the last few days.
