The 5x NBA All-Star is also aiming to become the first player since Larry Bird in 1986 to win three consecutive NBA MVP awards. He is currently on top of the NBA MVP ladder in front of serious candidates Joel Embiid and Luka Doncic.

If he continues with his eye-catching displays, the Michael Jordan Trophy will definitely be waiting for him at the end of the season.

Jokic reacts to triple-double news

Against the Pelicans, Jokic got his 16th triple-double of the season as the Western Conference leaders won 122-113. The win saw them improve to 35-16, with only 2022 NBA Finalists Boston Celtics with a better record.

After the game, he was informed that he is now averaging a triple-double. However, he had a subdued but priceless reaction. He said all that matters is the team winning.

"Oooooooh. I mean it's nice of course. Again, it's not something that I'm striving to do. It just happened to be. I'm happy as long as we are winning games and teammates are happy around me."

The Nuggets are 16-0 when the 'Joker' records a triple-double. The 6-foot-11 center has 16 triple-doubles this season, per CBS Sports.

Fans reactions to Jokic's remarks

@uyoung76:

"As the starting center in the NBA, your job should be to anchor the middle defensively. Until he shows more on defense, he’s second to Embiid."

@JB_DenverSports:

"Everyone else cares about Nikola Jokic’s triple doubles, he couldn’t care less about them. Dude just wants to play the right way and win the game."

@FolsomPrimeTime:

"Jokic is the type of guy who might well fail to show up at his own Hall of Fame induction. Lol."

@JJCTroy:

"One of the best players I’ve ever seen on the court. And clearly an even better human being."

@mikeatnite54:

"Couldn’t think of better role model for young kids to follow. Very humble basketball player who happens to be very very good."

Jokic matches Chamberlain
