Chauncey Billups's side outscored the Lakers by 32 in the second quarter and were on track for a comfortable win. However, a dreadful second half spurred by the ageless LeBron James handed them a terrible defeat. They are now 4-12 in their last 16 games, in the NBA.

The Lakers scored 75 points in the second half and Beverley stole the headlines after his back-and-forth with Blazers star Damian Lillard, per AP.

Beverley inspires the Lakers

According to Dennis Schroder, Ham walked out of the Lakers' locker room after telling his team to figure things out. Ham's exit gave Beverley a chance to stir his teammates, per ESPN.

"Told the guys, 'Just turn our swag up. Understand we're fortunate to play a game that gives us stability to take care of our families, be able to live a lifestyle, a fortunate lifestyle that a lot of people dream about."

Beverley was given a technical foul in the second quarter for getting at Lillard while the Blazers star was at the free-throw line.

The 34-year-old also brutally mocked Lillard's "Dame Time"signature. He tapped on his wrist, miming if the watch was working then pretended to take it off and put it in his pocket. It was the moment of the match.

Davis's return to Lakers revealed

Sports Brief earlier reported on the news that Lakers big man Anthony Davis is expected to return to the Lakers lineup later this week.

The 29-year-old has been out of NBA action for over a month now. The 2020 NBA champions have been up and down since he went down against the Denver Nuggets on December 17, 2022.

Davis has been ramping up the recovery process and would be a welcome addition to the team which has struggled for consistency. The Lakers have won two of their last five games.
