  • A Bible verse, Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
  • Curry says recently said the verse is his mantra.

Stephen Curry announced himself on the world stage by leading the Golden State Warriors to the 2015 NBA title. The following season, he and the Warriors broke several NBA records, including winning 73 games in the regular season.

Since then, the 34-year-old has inspired millions of people across the world. His three-point shooting ability changed how basketball is played.

Most of Curry's sneakers usually have a Bible verse written on them, and the four-time NBA winner says that it is what drives him.

The 2022 NBA Finals MVP has since then become the face of the company, even creating his own line, the "Curry Brand," per SI.

His current deal with Under Armour runs through 2024, but he was reportedly close to quitting the corporation in 2018 because of friction between him and founder Kevin Plank who supported Donald Trump.

Bible verse on Curry's shoes

There's no denying that Curry is a basketball superstar. His demeanor has attracted many fans and haters alike. One thing that has stood out for Curry was what drives him.

Steph has been writing the Bible verse Philippians 4:13 on his sneakers since his time at Davidson College. The verse has driven him over the last few years, per ESPN.

"It's a mantra that I live by and something that drives me every single day....That's mine, and you can pick whatever yours is and let that drive you, too, as you continue with basketball or whatever field you're in in your life."

Curry led the Warriors to the 2022 NBA Finals, but this season, his team has struggled for consistency, halfway through the season.

Curry on Warriors struggles.

Sports Brief earlier reported on Curry explaining why the Warriors are struggling after they suffered another defeat on the road, this time to the Chicago Bulls.

"We just haven’t proven that we’re intelligent enough or play hard enough, that we’re focused enough to string a couple good games together to help build that momentum."

Steve Kerr's side are now 21-22 for the season and sit 8th in the Western Conference. They have won just once in their last five games and will need to get back on track if they want to avoid the play-in tournament.
