Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant stole the headlines a few weeks ago when he declared that no team worries him in the Western Conference. He made the comment ahead of the 2022 Christmas Day showdown with the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors convincingly beat them and he was forced to swallow his words. Warriors forward Draymond Green has now responded to the remark.

Morant's comment was also an apparent jibe at the Warriors, who have built a fierce rivalry. The Grizzlies eliminated the Warriors in the 2021 play-in tournament.

The Warriors knocked out the young team in the West semi-finals en route to their fourth NBA title in eight years. They eliminated the Grizzlies in six games in a gripping series, per CBS Sports.

Taylor Jenkins' side are now top of the Western Conference after beating the Orlando Magic 123-115 on Thursday night, January 5th.

Green responds to Morant

Speaking on his podcast, Green heaped praise on Morant for his growth as a leader for his team. He added that he has a lot of love and respect for the 23-year-old.

Green also hit back at Morant for his comment, saying his team are in the West, per SI.

"You are fine, Ja. You are. But the Warriors [are] in the West now, champ. So yes, you are fine, Ja. The Grizzlies on the other hand, that's a topic for another day."

Green on Warriors vs Grizzlies rivalry

Sports Brief earlier reported on Green dismissing the claims that the Grizzlies and Warriors are rivals, citing the Lakers vs Celtics and Cavaliers vs Warriors as the real rivalries.'

"I think the word rivalry is thrown around too loosely these days. A rivalry is Lakers-Celtics. A rivalry is us and the Cavs through those 2015, '16, '17, '18, '19 years. Those are rivalries."

Green added that the Grizzlies have to win enough to have a rivalry with another team.
