Ayton then joined Hillcrest Prep in Arizona for his last two years. He averaged 29.2 points, 16.7 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game in his first year (2015-16). He also earned Finals MVP and season MVP for leading his team to a Grind Session World Championship.

In 2016, the Nassau-born player scored 8 points and 7 rebounds for the World Select Team at Nike Hoop Summit. Before joining college, he stood out as the No. 1 centre in the 2017 high school class.

College career (2017-2018)

The tall basketball star enrolled at the University of Arizona in 2017, where he represented the Arizona Wildcats. However, he only stayed for one year in college.
