As reported on BBC Sport, Curry led Team LeBron to a 163-160, amassing a mammoth 50 points which included an all-star game record 16 successful three point shots. His efforts earned him the Kobe Bryant Trophy for the Most Valuable Player of the Game as per ESPN.

The award was named in honour of the late, great former LA Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who tragically passed away accompanied by his daughter Gianna and seven other people in a helicopter crash in January 2020.

Curry's historic performance saw him score seven more three-pointers than the previous record of nine, set by Paul George in 2016. He missed out on the record for the most points in the game (52), set by Anthony Davis in 2017.

Curry recently surpassed Ray Allen at the top of the the all-time list for threes made and was honoured as a member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team at half-time.

Fittingly, James won the game for his team with a last gasp two point shot, the fifth time in a row a team he was on won the showpiece game. This was his 18th participation in the game, one game shy of the record currently held by Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 19 appearances.

James made 24 points for his side and while the Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo, a Greek national of Nigerian descent added 30 points and 12 rebounds. The "Greek Freak" is the reigning NBA MVP after leading the Bucks to the NBA championship last year.

Team Durant were led by the Philadelphia 76ers' Cameroonian powerhouse Joel Embiid, who recorded 36 points and 10 rebounds, while Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns contributed 20 points.
