Nigeria’s Female Basketball Team Defeat Mali to Qualify for Women Basketball World Cup

Nigeria's female basketball team D'Tigress have qualified for the Women Basketball World Cup billed to hold in Australia this year.

D’Tigress who lost the first quarter 20-22, came from behind to beat Mali 73-69 on Sunday afternoon to qualify for the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup slated for Sydney.

Like they did against France two days earlier, Otis Hugley girls fought back from a 2 point deficit in the first quarter to grab a win and book their second consecutive World Cup outing.

They put up a more purposeful second quarter and dominated it entirely to win 22-13 to close the half at 42-35.

Another impressive display in the third quarter saw the Nigerian ladies take a giant lead winning 22-9 to take a step closer to the World Cup.

The fourth and final round was less than impressive as Mali dominated as they hoped to fight back and win the tie managing to defeat D'Tigress 25-7 points before another impressive 19-13pts finish in the 4th quarter to seal the win.

The Cable reports that despite losing to China on Thursday, D’Tigress beat France on Friday to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

The 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup will take place in Sydney, Australia between September 22 to October 1, 2022.

Ese Brume presents Olympic medal to Oyedepo

Sports Brief earlier reported that Nigerian athlete, Ese brume, has finally gotten her wish fulfilled, having presented her 2020 Olympic bronze medal to Bishop David Oyedepo.

The 26-year-old who specializes in Long Jump finished third at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo with a leap of 6.97m to claim one of Nigeria’s medals.

Ese dedicated the victory to Oyedepo at the time and announced that she would present the medal to her pastor.
