Nicholas Hwende took on Roevan de Beer in the co-main event of EFC 101, looking to defend his Bantamweight Championship.

Hwende took control of the fight early, dropping de Beer to the ground and attempted to land some shots. De Beer, who is renowned for his ground game, tried to cover up but Hwende landed some brutal shots, cutting his opponent open.

Hwende continued to land shot after shot as he pushed for a win.

De Beer verbally submits

He got the win a few seconds later, but not the way he expected it, as de Beer verbally submitted after his right shoulder popped out of the socket.

Hwende picked up the win by tap out due to verbal submission and defended his Bantamweight belt. The Zimbabwean is also undefeated as a fighter.

Jessica Mouneimne vs Alice Ardelean

South Africa’s Jessica Mouneimne then battled Romania’s Alice Ardelean for the Women’s Strawweight title. Ardealean, fighting out of Birmingham England, started the fight with a bang. Ardelean landed big blows to Mouneimne’s face.

Mouneimne was forced to try and grapple in order to minimise the damage she was taking.

Ardelean's ferocious ground and pound

The tactic didn’t help much as Ardelean took the fight to the ground and beat up Mouneimne. She cut the South African open and pressed home her advantage.

Mouneimne tried to hook in a submission and then managed to take the fight back to her feet. The South African survived the round but the fight was stopped not long after as the doctor stepped in to save Mouneimne from further damage.

Ardelean is now undefeated in her professional career and the new EFC Strawweight Women’s Champion.

Nicholas Hwende defeats Nkazimulo Zulu

The main event of EFC 100 lived up to the hype and capped off the night in stunning fashion.

Nkazimulo 'Zulu Boy' Zulu, a former Bantamweight and Flyweight champion, took on the champion Nicholas Hwende for the Bantamweight title in the main event of the card.

The judges gave the win to Hwende by unanimous decision, but the scorecards could not accurately describe what a classic encounter it was, Sports Brief previously reported.
