Pereira has bragging rights

Pereira is the only man to beat Adesanya prior to them competing in the UFC and is the first person to beat him for the title in the organisation. The Brazilian stopped Adesanya in the fifth round of their title fight at UFC 281 in November 2022, DAZN reported.

Adesanya unhappy with the stoppage

The former champion disputed the stoppage at the time, believing that the referee stepped in too quickly, MMA Junkie reported.

Adesanya was winning the fight on the judge's scorecards prior to the stoppage. With a chance at redemption, Adesanya will be looking to prove that he is the true king of the middleweights.

Fans looking forward to rematch

Fans have had their say about the rematch and who they think will win it.

@rafaestamelo:

"Pereira gonna show him what’s up again."

@thekidlionheart:

"This is a banger of a fight I just can’t see Izzy losing it though unless he gets caught I think he might try to drag it out to 5 again and make it to the bell."

@stijjani:

"For Izzy to win he has to put the pressure on for the whole 5 rounds. If he backpedals and cedes octagon control to Poatan, he loses...by KO...again."

@ThreeLionsMMA:

"I think Adesanya gets beat again quite easily."

Adesanya gets new tattoo

Israel Adesanya's love for anime has inspired his new tattoo.

The Last Stylebender revealed his new ink on social media, explaining that it was inspired by Gaara, a popular character from Naruto.

Adesanya’s new tattoo means dragon and is inscribed in Arabic, Sports Brief reported.
