Jamahal Hill is the new UFC Light-Heavyweight champion.
The American beat veteran Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 283.
The fight never looked destined to go all five rounds, as both fighters landed blows in the first round. While neither fighter emptied the gas tank in the first round, they did connect with a few good shots.
The second round is when the fight really took off. Hill landed a beautiful head kick which wobbled the 43-year-old and the American pushed forward to finish the fight.

Teixeira, who doesn’t go down easily, rallied back and landed a few telling blows of his own which troubled Hill.
The fight went into the third and Hill landed another head kick which looked certain to win him the bout then.
Teixeira was badly cut open and had to cover up on the ground. His veteran instinct kicked in and he managed to survive till the end of the round.
The Brazilian came out in the fourth with a busted-up face but refused to give up as he took the fight to Hill. The youngster managed the fight well, though, picking his shots and working on opening up the many cuts on Teixera’s face.
The tactic paid dividends and many assumed the bout would be stopped before the fifth round, such was the damage done to Teixeira. The doctors were called in but the Brazilian did enough to prove that he could still see out of his eyes and could still fight.
Teixera even took Hill down to the ground early in the fifth as he looked to hook in a submission to try and steal the win.
Hill, showing maturity and experience, managed to reverse the move and took control. He finished the round by landing a few more shots and broke down in tears after the final bell, realising he had done enough to win the title.
Hill won the fight via unanimous decision and became the new UFC Light Heavyweight champion.
