Yan Diomande Agrees Personal Terms With PSG, Leaving Liverpool’s €100m Pursuit in Doubt

RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has reportedly agreed a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, dealing a significant blow to Liverpool's summer transfer ambitions. Leipzig, however, are holding firm on an asking price of €120 million.

Paris Saint-Germain appear to have won the race for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international reportedly agreeing personal terms on a five-year deal with the French club, according to reports. The development represents a major setback for Liverpool, who had been among the leading pursuers of one of European football’s most sought-after young talents.

Despite Liverpool submitting a formal bid of €100 million (£86.8m) — which Leipzig rejected last week — Diomande is said to have prioritised a move to the French capital. Sources suggest the teenager was persuaded by the sporting vision outlined by PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and head coach Luis Enrique, choosing the Ligue 1 giants over Premier League interest.

While personal terms are reportedly in place, a transfer is far from guaranteed. Leipzig have maintained a firm stance, insisting the versatile winger — who remains under contract at the club until June 2030 — will not be sold for anything less than €120 million. PSG will now need to negotiate a fee with the Bundesliga side before any deal can be completed.

Diomande’s appeal to Europe’s elite clubs stems from an exceptional debut campaign in Germany. After joining Leipzig from Spanish side Leganés in the summer of 2025, the teenager registered 12 goals and nine assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances during the 2025/26 season — a breakout performance that has underpinned his current valuation.

The move, should it go through, would fit a broader pattern at PSG. Under Luis Enrique, the club has evolved into a primary destination for elite wide players and claimed back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. Diomande is reportedly motivated by the prospect of competing for major honours at the highest level and harbours longer-term ambitions of winning the Ballon d’Or.

At present, Diomande is occupied with international duty at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he is representing Ivory Coast. The Elephants are scheduled to face Norway in the Round of 32 on Tuesday, June 30, meaning any transfer discussions will likely continue in the background before intensifying after the tournament.

With Diomande’s preference now seemingly clear, Liverpool are reportedly assessing alternative options in the wide forward market. Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh has been identified as one potential target as the Merseyside club looks to redirect its recruitment plans for the summer window.
