Victor Osimhen Transfer: Barcelona and Real Madrid Prepare €100m+ Bids for Nigerian Striker

Victor Osimhen is poised to become the centrepiece of one of the summer’s most high-profile transfer battles, with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona both understood to be assessing a potential move for the Nigerian international.

For Barcelona, the push for a new striker is being driven by planning considerations around Robert Lewandowski, who turns 38 in August. Ferran Torres has also failed to establish himself as a dependable attacking focal point, leaving the club with a clear need for reinforcement through the middle.

At Real Madrid, the motivation is reportedly different in nature. According to reports, the club are seeking a traditional number nine — a penalty-area presence capable of scoring consistently — a profile that would allow Kylian Mbappé to operate more regularly on the left wing, the position in which he is considered most effective.

Osimhen has spent the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Galatasaray, where he has maintained the standards that originally elevated him into the upper tier of European forwards. The Super Eagles striker has demonstrated his trademark combination of physical strength, pace, and finishing precision throughout the Turkish season.

Any transfer, however, is unlikely to come cheap. The CIES Football Observatory has valued Osimhen at €104.7 million, a figure that signals neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid would be able to negotiate significantly below the €100 million threshold.

Osimhen’s contractual situation adds further complexity to his summer outlook. The 26-year-old remains registered to Napoli, who have previously indicated they will not entertain offers they consider below his market value. His loan arrangement at Galatasaray runs until the end of the current season, at which point his future will need to be resolved ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Both clubs are reportedly planning detailed internal assessments of a potential pursuit rather than making immediate moves, suggesting any formal approach remains some way off. Nevertheless, the mutual interest from two of world football’s wealthiest institutions significantly strengthens Osimhen’s negotiating position.

Historically, Osimhen’s trajectory has been defined by his prolific stint at Napoli, where he was instrumental in the club’s 2022-23 Serie A title win — their first Scudetto in over three decades. His 26 league goals that season drew sustained attention from Europe’s elite clubs, though a move failed to materialise at the time.

Should either Barcelona or Real Madrid successfully complete a transfer, Osimhen would arrive with the burden of immediate expectation. Both clubs are engaged in ongoing squad rebuilding cycles, and a striker of his profile — proven at the highest level across Serie A and the UEFA Champions League — would represent a significant addition to whichever attack he joins.
