Nigerian international Victor Osimhen is increasingly likely to make a high-profile move to LaLiga this summer, according to FIFA agent Mithat Halis, who believes either Real Madrid or Barcelona could secure the 27-year-old striker’s signature for a fee surpassing €100 million.
Speaking to Barcablaugranes via AS, Halis outlined the logic behind his prediction: “Signing Osimhen is very realistic. It would even exceed €100 million. His transfer could be between Real Madrid and Barcelona. One has given up on Lewandowski. The other doesn’t have a center forward.”
The agent’s assessment reflects genuine structural needs at both clubs. Barcelona have been actively searching for a long-term replacement for 38-year-old Robert Lewandowski, with Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez understood to be their primary target. Osimhen, according to reports, remains a high-priority alternative should a deal for Alvarez prove unattainable.
At Real Madrid, the absence of a recognised centre-forward has been an ongoing tactical concern since Karim Benzema’s departure. The club has relied on Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior to fill more central roles — positions neither player naturally occupies. Halis elaborated on how Osimhen could address this imbalance: “Real Madrid hasn’t had a center forward since Karim Benzema’s time. They are forced to play Mbappe and Vinicius as strikers. If they sign Osimhen, then Mbappe and Vinicius will play in their natural positions, as wingers, and will be more effective. The Nigerian would be a very functional player for Real Madrid.”
Osimhen’s market value continues to be underpinned by his output on the pitch. The Super Eagles forward has registered 19 goals across the Turkish Super Lig and the Champions League during the current campaign, maintaining the form that has kept him among Europe’s most sought-after strikers. He is currently on loan at Fenerbahce, where his performances have reignited interest from top clubs across the continent.
The striker’s situation at Napoli, who retain his registration, adds a layer of complexity to any potential deal. The Serie A club are expected to demand a significant fee, consistent with the reported €100 million-plus valuation cited by Halis. Osimhen’s previous contract negotiations with Napoli drew considerable attention, and his eventual departure — when it comes — is anticipated to be one of the most consequential transfer transactions of the 2025-26 summer window.
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid enter the summer with attacking reinforcements as a stated priority. For Barcelona, any move for Osimhen would represent a significant financial commitment given the club’s ongoing efforts to stabilise its economic position under LaLiga’s financial fair play framework. Real Madrid, meanwhile, have the structural need and, sources suggest, the financial capacity to meet the asking price.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Osimhen’s next club is set to be one of the defining storylines of the market. Whether that destination is the Camp Nou or the Santiago Bernabeu, Halis’s view is clear: a move to Spain is not a speculative outcome — it is, in his words, “very realistic.”
