  • Antonio Conte has put Tottenham in disarray after his explosive rant
  • Spurs surrendered a 3-1 lead to draw with bottom-placed Southampton
  • The Italian manager faces an uncertain future and could well be sacked

Antonio Conte is proving to be an element of unrest and division for the Tottenham Hotspur board and in the dressing room, after his explosive post-match rant at the weekend.

Spurs drew 3-3 with bottom-placed Southampton despite going 3-1 up with only a few minutes left in the game.

Afterwards, the Italian manager ripped into the players and apparently had words for the board - which he has since denied.

His contract at the club expires in the summer but he could be released before that time, with growing expectations that he will be sacked during the international break.

Hojbjerg sends message to Conte

Spurs' Danish midfielder, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has now sent a message to Conte, asking he be more specific in his anger so the players can re-evaluate themselves.

"I think we've all seen it. He gave a very honest and very open press conference. It is because he is not satisfied. You don't do that if you've reached the quarter-final of the Champions League and if you're in the semi-final of the FA Cup," Hojbjerg told BBC Sports.

The Dane believes Conte's ire stems from Spurs not getting the results they desired and understands the difficulty.

"We are still where we want and need to be in the Premier League... I understand that if you want to be successful as a team, you need 11 men who are committed to a project and a culture. But I think [Conte] has to elaborate on how he feels before you as a player can start measuring and weighing."

Hojbjerg is not the only one seeking clarifications after Conte's rant.

As reported by Mirror UK, the Spurs board demanded the Italian manager clarify his statements, which he has claimed were aimed at players and not the club's top brass.

Spurs players want Conte sacked

Meanwhile, Sports Brief reported on Tottenham players wanting Conte sacked after he labelled them selfish in his weekend outburst.

The Italian manager is reportedly back in his home country as the club hierarchy deliberates on his future in charge of the team.

Tottenham's first-team coach, Ryan Mason was said to have taken charge of training on March 21 for players not on international duty.
