  • Tottenham Hotspur was outclassed by rivals Arsenal again in the North London derby
  • Richarlison's first appearance since the World Cup was marked by many confrontations
  • The striker had an altercation with Gunners defender Takehiro Tomiyasu in the first half

For a player who featured for less than 20 minutes, Richarlison was heavily involved in the North London derby.

Known for his abrasive nature, the Brazilian was making his first appearance since recovering from a thigh injury he picked up after World Cup duty with his country.

With Tottenham Hotspur trailing 2-0, Antonio Conte sent Richarlison on with the hope of coming back into the game. It wasn't meant to be, as the Gunners bagged the maximum points.

However, the 25-year-old did make a nuisance of himself.

He had that clash with opposition goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale after the final whistle was blown. He was also seen shoving the Arsenal custodian, which led to another ugly incident after a Spurs fan had kicked Ramsdale.

The FA has since opened formal proceedings into the aftermath of the January 15 game.

In a separate incident, Richarlison is seen clashing with Arsenal defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu on the touchline. Like the Spurs striker, Tomiyasu started the match from the bench.

Afc Stuff reports that the incident happened in the first half, as Thomas Partey prepared to take a throw-in. Richarlison seemingly wanted to interfere with that process and walked over to possibly rush the Ghanaian.

Tomiyasu stopped him in his tracks by putting his arms in the Brazilian's way, and Richarlison responded with an angry shove. Luckily, Tomiyasu did not retaliate.

Richarlison blanks Martinelli

Sports Brief had also reported that Richarlison was in no mood for pleasantries with Arsenal forward, Gabriel Martinelli when the two sides met on January 15.

The Gunners ran riot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and raced to a 2-0 lead before the break. Hugo Lloris had a howler by turning in a Bukayo Saka cross, while Martin Odegaard added the second from outside the box.

Before Richarlison was brought on, Martinelli attempted to shake hands with his international compatriot, who was warming up near the corner flag.
