  • Harry Kane and Heung-min Son notched a brace as a rampant Tottenham Hotspur side swept aside a select side from South Korea's elite division in a pre-season friendly
  • Tottenham has been touted as one of the clubs to break the Liverpool and Manchester City duopoly in the forthcoming season
  • Antonio Conte guided the north London club to the fourth spot last season but the Italian wants to end the club's trophy drought as the new season beckons

English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspurs smashed a select side from the South Korean top-flight in a pre-season friendly played on Wednesday, July 13.

A brace from marksmen Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, a solitary strike from Eric Dier coupled with an own goal from Kim Jin-Hyeok gave Antonio Conte's men a resounding 6-3 win against the K-League Stars.

The Lilywhites are currently on a pre-season tour in South Korea and after going through a gruelling training exercise, they stepped out for their first game on tour.

And it appears Conte's intense training rudiments yielded positive dividends on the pitch when defender Eric Dier broke the deadlock at the half-hour mark.

However, the north London club suffered a setback on the stroke of halftime when Cho Gue-Sung grabbed the equalizer.

A raft of changes at the start of the second half did little to affect the flow of the game as Spurs regained the lead through an own goal, two minutes after recess.

But for the second time in the game, the select side got on level terms when South African forward Lars Veldwijk grabbed the equalizer after 52 minutes.

Veldwijk's goal evoked the anger of Spurs with frontmen Kane and Son firing a brace each to put the game beyond the reach of the K-League Stars as Conte's men held on to close the game with a landslide win.

Up next for Conte's charges is another pre-season friendly encounter against La Liga side Sevilla on Saturday, July 16.

Spurs manager Antonio Conte fires warning shots to Premier League rivals ahead of new season

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Antonio Conte has disclosed his Tottenham Hotspurs side will compete on all fronts in the upcoming season.

Conte salvaged what threatened to be an underwhelming season for Tottenham when he guided the Lilywhites to a top-four finish ahead of Manchester United and Arsenal.

And the Italian tactician has already launched an assault on the transfer market with statement signings.
