  • Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is ready to prolong his stay with the club provided they back head coach Antonio Conte fully in the transfer market
  • Kane almost left the North London last summer after Manchester City incessantly placed high bids for him which were turned down by Spurs
  • The striker will need the club to reassure him that the squad will be built to Conte’s demands so that they can compete for trophies next season

Harry Kane is ready to extend his Tottenham Hotspur contract, 10 months after almost leaving the club.

The prolific attacker came close to moving to Manchester City but Spurs CEO Daniel Levy refused to enter into negotiations. Kane has in the past reiterated the need to join a club where he can actively compete for trophies.

But now with the Premier League champions no longer needing a striker, Kane is seemingly reassessing his options. Pep Guardiola’s side has bought Erling Haaland from Manchester City and Julian Alvarez from River Plate.

The Daily Express reports that Kane is now intrigued by Antonio Conte’s plan at Spurs. The experienced manager was brought in midseason and has since led Spurs to a fourth-place finish.

The England captain wants reassurances that Conte will be backed fully in the transfer market. The Italian manager has complained repeatedly about Spurs lacking the required players to compete at the required standards.

Kane’s current deal runs through to 2024 and Levy will be hoping he can extend his contract. He is one of the most sought-after strikers in world football.

Conte is expected to sit down with Tottenham bosses

Conte is due to sit down with Levy and the director of football Fabio Paratici to talk about his future. The former Chelsea manager will demand to have a say in the players that will be arriving in North London.

Spurs are expected to push through with deals of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Betancur. The two players are on loan from Juventus and Spurs intend to make their deals permanent after successful spells in England.

Spurs will also need a beefed-up squad as they prepare for a return to the UEFA Champions League next season.

Harry Kane equals Sergio Aguero's record

Sports Brief had previously reported that Harry Kane was in the mood to break records in the English Premier League this season as the Tottenham striker has been named "Player of the Month" for March in the EPL for the 7th time.

The 28-year-old forward was in superb form for Tottenham as he bagged four goals and created two more as the London club revived their hope of qualifying for the Champions League.
