Mahachi was charged with malicious damage to property after he was accused of snatching and damaging his sister's iPhone last week, FarPost reported.

It's believed that the phone contained vital evidence proving that the player did scald his four-year-old son.

Mahachi was accused of abusing his child by his ex-wife Maritha Ndlovu, Soccer24 reported.

Ndlovu claimed that Mahachi requested that his son come to South Africa to stay with him for a while, which she agreed to. However, she found out that her son had returned to Zimbabwe two months later and was with his great-grandmother. When she went to pick him up, she found him heavily bandaged with burns all over the body.

Ndlovu claims that Mahachi abused their son by pouring boiling water over him, resulting in severe burns. His right foot had to be amputated as a result of the burns.

Mahachi then left South Africa and returned to Zimbabwe to get away from the charges. He has since been suspended by SuperSport United and his contract will not be renewed with the club.

Mahachi has denied the claims against him but his malicious damage to property charge paints a different picture.

The matter has been postponed to July 5.
