  • Comedian Skhumbuzo "Skhumba" Hlophe once caused much raucous laughter in the commentary booth and at home in front of the television at home

  • He is currently the subject of gossip that he is about to be shown the door alongside his colleague Paul Msengana on Kaya FM's breakfast morning show

Comedian Skhumbuzo "Skhumba" Hlophe might be the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons at the moment, but there is no doubt he remains the benchmark on humorous observations of everyday South African life.

There are rumours that the end of the line has come for him at Kaya FM with his colleague Thomas Msengana on the radio station's morning breakfast show.

Regardless, his rise in the broadcast world was given a boost with his appearance as a guest commentator during SuperSport's coverage of the 2016 Gauteng Champion of Champions Cup tournament in Daveyton in the east of Gauteng.

Starting with renowned commentator Sizwe Mabena he joked:

"You look unrecognisable. It's as if you are dressed to go to the circus."

Turning to former goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs, who was in goals for Bidvest Wits against SuperSport United, he quipped in reference an infamous moment involving his false teeth:

"You know, Moeneeb looks like he might just catch the ball and take out his teeth."

With Mabena and commentator Brian Mathe audibly in stitches in the commentary booth, Skhumba said:

"Steve Khompela's command of the English language is frightening. He is like a hard drive of the Oxford dictionary."

South African petrolheads suggest taxi to race Formula One Grand Prix car for F1 Mzansi PR stunt

South African motorsports racing enthusiasts have suggested that a Grand Prix Formula One car take on the (in)famous local taxi in a race.

As reported by Sports Brief, this is as the country is being touted to host an F1 race in the near future. According to reports, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali was in talks with stakeholders in Mzansi about the possibility of the sport returning to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

This would be the first time Formula One would return to the country since 1993, won by Alain Prost driving a Williams-Renault.
