Super Falcons and Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala will be launching her football academy in Lagos on Tuesday, 9 August, in which many soccer administrators and fans are expected to be available.

Asisat Oshoala who rose to the zenith of her football career started from the grass while playing street soccer on the streets of Lagos before finding it to the top of her career.

The academy is the latest initiative of Asisat Oshoala that will build upon her mission of providing access to sport and education for young girls in her community.

This latest development is coming days after the Barcelona striker was named as the 2022 best Africa player of the year in an award ceremony held in Morocco.

According to the information posted on Instagram by TVC, Asisat Oshoala explained that her desire is to see young and talented Nigerian players grow like her.

Asisat Oshoala's statement about her academy

“I have always strived to give back to the girl child in my community and I believe this football academy will provide opportunities for more girls to excel through the combination of sport and education. I want to thank our partners Women Win and Nike for helping bring this platform to life. Together we can go further and achieve a lot more.''

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Nigerian international Victor Osimhen referred to Dries Mertens as a legend as the Belgian finally departs the Italian side Napoli.
