Asisat Oshoala has been crowned the Women's Spanish Primera Division top scorer for the 2021/22 season after a brilliant campaign with Champions, Barcelona Femeni.

The 27-year-old scored a total of 20 goals to win the Pichichi award ahead of a close competitor in Real Madrid’s Geyse with 19 goals.

According to a report via Complete Sports, the Nigerian striker missed four months of the season through injuries but defied the setback to emerge as the league’s top scorer.

After Sonia Bermdez and Jennifer Hermoso, the Super Falcons forward became the third Barcelona player to win the award since its debut in 2005.

Oshoala played a key role as Barcelona Femini were crowned Champions of the Spanish Primera Division as they won all 30 games played this season.

Oshoala becomes first African to win Pichichi award

Asisat Oshoala has become the first African woman to win the Spanish Primera Division's top goalscorer award The Cable reports.

After Mexican Charlyn Corral, the 27-year-old forward became the second non-Spanish player to win the Golden Boot award in the 2017/18 season.

The accomplishment was completed on Sunday when Barcelona Femeni defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 at Estadi Johan Cruyff to complete a flawless season in the Primera Division.

Nigerian striker scores for Barcelona in big win

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Asisat Oshoala was on target for Barcelona Femeni on Thursday night, 5 May, as they thrashed visiting Sevilla 5-1 in Primera Division encounter.

But the visitors were the ones who took the lead when another Super Falcons player Toni Payne scored from close range in the 40th minute.

After conceding a goal in front of their faithfuls, Barcelona ladies changed their styles of play to a more attacking one and they restored parity in the 58th minute through Claudia Pina.
