Kanu Tips Super Falcons to Defend Africa Women Cup of Nations Title in Morocco

Uchenna Kanu is acknowledged the Super Falcons will face tougher opposition when the Africa Women Cup of Nations kicks off in July.

Nigeria will be seeking to win her 10th AWCON title after qualifying for the competition by edging out Ivory Coast and Ghana in the preliminary round.

According to a report via Complete Sports, Kanu has now tasked the Super Falcons players to build team chemistry before the start of the competition to stand a chance of winning.

“I think the team is good and going well. We need to work on building team chemistry and make sure the Super Falcons remain the best. We need to work on maintaining that standard.

“We just need to train and focus on the things to get better at. The chances of Nigeria winning AWCON is very high. I believe in the team because we have a good squad, we are prepared and I’m hopeful.”

Nigeria has qualified for every edition of the Africa Women Cup of Nations with the Super Falcons the most successful team in the history of the competition.

Africa Women Cup of Nations draw set for April

Meanwhile, the Super Falcons will find out their opponents in the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations as the draws have been scheduled for April 25 according to CAF.

12 teams have been confirmed for the draws to be held at the Mohamed VI Complex in Rabat, including two-time losing finalists, South Africa, hosts Morocco, and Cameroon.

Burkina Faso, Togo, and Burundi will be making their maiden appearance at the tournament against experienced countries like Nigeria who will be making their 14th AWCON appearance.

Super Falcons concede late equalizer in 2:2 draw against Canada

Earlier, Sports Brief reported the Super Falcons put up a spirited display in their final friendly game against Canada but were left disappointed following a late equalizer from the Olympic champions.
