Super Eagles legendary goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has credited the team bond and relationship that existed between the players and late coach Stephen Keshi as the key reason why Nigeria won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Recall that Nigeria emerged champions after dispatching Ivory Coast, Mali and Burkina Faso in the knockout stages on their road to victory.

Nigeria ended their 19-year wait after beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final to lift the Nations Cup for the third time in the country's history.

Seven years after this victory, Enyeama has now attributed the unity that existed in that squad as the major reason for Nigeria winning the trophy against all odds.

Speaking exclusively to Legit.ng, Enyeama said: "We were a small family. We were not the best set like the golden generation of the Amokachi, Jay Jay, Finidi George, Peter Rufai but we had a very great bond that you would love to be part of.

"Yobo was there it was amazing, Osaze was there Ike Uche was there, Ideye was there, Emenike was there, it was joy. I’m so happy to have been part of that group."

The veteran goalkeeper also praised the impact of late Stephen Keshi who led the team to glory in South Africa.

He said: "We now had a correct man as coach. Guy man for real. He was good and could relate well with players.

"You know there are some coaches that are boss. They are the boss. You know… this was guy man and probably that’s one of the reasons we won that cup. Because we were like a street team, we were like that family."

Enyeama's statement comes at a period when former Super Eagles star Taiye Taiwo accused late Stephen Keshi of involving in dirty deals when he was the coach.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how former Super Eagles defender Taiye Taiwo pointed an accusing finger on late Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi claiming that his dirty deals forced him out of the Super Eagles.

Former Super Eagles forward Chinedu Obasi also claimed that his refusal to pay bribe was responsible for his omission to the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
