Keshi: Man shares picture of how grave of late Eagles coach looks

- Stephen Keshi died in 2016 and was buried in his home town in Delta state

- A picture purportedly showing his grave has surfaced online four years later

Nigerians have taken to social media to react to a picture posted by TV presenter Wole Opatola purportedly showing the grave side of late Super Eagles legend and coach Stephen Keshi.

Keshi who led Nigeria to an unbelievable Africa Cup of Nations glory in 2013 died on June 7, 2016 in Benin and laid to rest on July 29, 2016 in his home town Illah, Delta state.

The burial brought together his former teammates, family and friends, who were on hand to pay tribute to a man who was popularly called the "Big Boss" or ‘Skippo’.

However, four years after his death, a picture posted by Opatola has caused uproar on social media as fans continue to react to the picture purportedly showing the grave of the former captain.

The picture shows a seemingly neglected site where the pane with which the inscription ‘Skippo’ looks to be rusting away.

“Who's to blame? In the countries we will readily point to, the dead are buried in cemeteries and the family looks after the grave,” NPFL stakeholder Harry Iwuala replied.

Another user Praise Fowowe queried why a proper tomb was not erected in honour of the late legend.

“But a stadium has been named after him what happened to the entire family? what does it take to erect a proper tomb stone?” he wrote.

“I hope his family are not waiting for NFF to tell them how to treat their son in his grave. Leave entitlement mentality, his family owe him good tomb,” were the words of Monsura Olatunji.

Biola Kazeem said: “First it was Mudashiru Lawal's grave that was abandoned for year & needed outsiders to fix. Now, just 4 years after his death, Keshi's grave is allowed to fall into disrepair too. Sadly, it says more about the esteem in which those they left behind hold them."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that former team captain Joseph Yobo has posted an heartfelt tribute to late Keshi four years after his death.
