Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles coach, says he is not leaving after AFCON 2019

- Gernot Rohr has stated that he has not been contacted by any country for him to leave Super Eagles

- Rohr stressed that he cannot even negotiate with the FA of any nation because he has a contract with the NFF

- The 66-year-old helped Nigeria to win bronze medal at the just concluded AFCON 2019 in Egypt

Gernot Rohr who is the head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has rubbished the reports linking him from his present position with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

After steering the Super Eagles to win bronze medal at the AFCON 2019, there have been speculation that Gernot Rohr could be on his way out of the Super Eagles.

Nigeria beat Tunisia 1-0 in the AFCON 2019 third place match in which striker Odion Ighalo scored the only goal.

Recently, Frenchman Hervé Renard resigned his from his position as the coach of Morocco, and Gernot Rohr has been linked with the vacant space.

Rohr was reported to be interested in replacing Renard, but the German has now denied he had made contact with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF).

“Though I’ve heard the rumours that Morocco wanted me, the truth is that nobody has contacted me about any job; I also heard that people in Gabon are also thinking about me.

“But I cannot even negotiate with another country because I still have a binding contract with Nigeria,'' Rohr said in an interview with Sportinglife.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Gernot Rohr who is the gaffer of Nigeria's Super Eagles named four of his players who impressed him at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Nigeria were defeated 2-1 by Algeria in the semifinal encounter, but the Super Eagles went on to win bronze beating Tunisia 1-0 in the third place match.

Algeria who defeated Nigeria in the semifinal went on to win the AFCON 2019 title as they beat Senegal 1-0 in the final.
