  • Ahmed Musa is certain the Super Eagles will defeat their counterparts from Guinea-Bissau
  • The two teams are slated to clash at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday evening
  • Nigeria lead Group A of the qualifiers with six points, with Guinea-Bissau second with four points

The captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa has assured his compatriots that the squad will claim victory when they host Guinea-Bissau on Friday.

Both west African teams will slug it out in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

A total of 23 players are already at the training camp with Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen arriving on Tuesday night after sealing an endorsement deal with a brand in Lagos.

He said:

“We are going all out to have three points.”

The majority of the players are in great form going into this game and Musa says what the younger boys need now is more encouragement, which he has been personally attempting with them.

“I have to encourage them because when I was younger than them, playing with the likes of Yobo, Obafemi Martins, Mikel - they encouraged me too, so right now I have to do the same.”

Meanwhile, it is the first time the team will return to the stadium in Abuja after their 1-1 draw with Ghana, which led to Nigeria failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Musa urged fans to continue to support the team in all situations.

“We know we didn’t qualify for the World Cup, but that was not our wish. For the fans, we know they came out to support us. Nowadays, we know the problem of the cashless policy, and you know how the country is… paying for taxis and all that."

Ticket prices for Nigeria tie

Sports Brief also reported on fans having to pay between N2,000 and N10,000 to watch the AFCON qualifier between Nigeria and Guinea Bissau.

The Super Eagles will be playing host for the first fixture at the MKO Abiola Stadium on March 24, in what is expected to be a tough encounter.

Tickets are available at the secretariat of the NFF at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium and other designated locales yet to be announced.
