Obafemi Martins – 10 goals

The former Nigerian international featured for some big clubs in Europe including Inter Milan, Wolfsburg and Rubin Kazan.

‘Obagoal’ first made a Champions League appearance in 2012 during his time with Inter Milan, scoring a couple of goals for the club, Infoguide Nigeria reports.

Martins also featured for Wolfsburg and Rubin Kazan in the Champions League, and before he retired, he already netted 10 times.

Julius Aghahowa - 7 goals

“Aghawonder’ scored some of the finest goals for club and country. He was the ‘bride’ of Shakhtar Donetsk.

The former Super Eagles striker scored 51 goals in 150 appearances for the Russian outfit during his first stint between 2000 and 2007.

In the Champions League, Aghahowa netted 7 times to become one of Nigeria’s top scorers in the competition.

However, the former Wigan Athletic striker returned to the Russian club in 2009, had just 19 appearances and one goal before he left in 2011.

Emmanuel Emenike - 7 goals

Emenike is one of the very best strikers having led Nigeria to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations glory in South Africa under the tutelage of the now-late tactician Stephen Keshi.

The forward starred in the UEFA Champions League for Spartak Moscow, Fenerbahce, and Olympiacos in the Champions League and scored seven goals in total.

Viktor Ikpeba – 7 goals

'The Prince of Monaco'. The 1997 Africa Footballer of the Year award recipient featured for Monaco Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Ikpeba was instrumental to both teams’ campaigns at the competition and wrapped up with a total of seven goals to be among Nigeria’s top scorers at the tournament.

Ayegbeni Yakubu – 7 goals.

‘The Yak’ painted Europe with goals. He had stints in England, Israel and Turkey, and featured in a number of European matches.

However, during his time with Maccabi Haifa, Yakubu netted a couple of Champions League goals before he departed in 2003.

Ahmed Musa – 6 goals

Nigeria’s most-capped player of all time. Musa was a delight to watch during his time with Russian outfit CSKA Moscow.

During his first stint at the club between 2011 and 2016, Musa scored 2 Champions League goals in six appearances.

Having struggled at English club Leicester City, the Nigerian international returned to CSKA Moscow on loan in the 2017-2018 season.

Musa also featured for Leicester City in the competition and has a total of 6 goals.
