An emotional photo has emerged on social media where Mikel John Obi's journey can be seen as he moved from grass to grace thanks to the game of football.

Years back, the former Super Eagles captain used to walk around the city of Jos with legs, but today, he has many expensive cars in his garage both in Nigeria and abroad.

According to the photo the former Chelsea star posted on his Instagram page, Mikel was seen sitting on the floor and he looked trouble.

Obi seemed to be thinking about his football career while putting his local travelling bag beside him.

How it started for Mikel

Obi started his football career in Jos before teaming up with Pepsi Academy in 2001. He was superb at the citadel and his performances paved ways for him to enter Plateau United.

Mikel was at Plateau United from 2002-2004 before moving to Europe joining Lyn.

He had incredible career at Chelsea winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League titles.

Legendary Nigerian coach, Kadiri Ikhana explained to Sports Brief that Mikel hada successful football career.

''He is like my son because we talk often and he was one of the best midfielders Nigeria has produced and he is still being missed in the Super Eagles.''

Mikel Obi storms Lagos

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how former Nigerian international Mikel Obi continued to give back to society, as he empowered some youths at Wave Beach in Lagos on Thursday, December 8, 2022.

The former Chelsea of England midfielder, who recently retired from football, has continued to share his talent with the young ones across the African continent.

The 35-year-old has partnered with the Vyootopia Festival of sports, entertainment and culture, in a bid to educate and empower young people.
