However, the picture shared by the 23-year-old did not go down well with many Nigerians, who blasted him because his opposition player was injured by the same tackle.

There were many negative comments by Nigerians, who slammed Malacia for the posting the image of him and Iwobi, considering the fact that the Super Eagles star will now be out for at least three weeks.

How the tackle happened

Iwobi fell awkwardly after a tackle from behind from Malacia, that saw him suffer what was suspected to be an ankle ligament injury. He was then stretchered off in tears.

Erik ten Hag and his wards went on to win the match 3-1, to qualify for the next round of the tournament.

Fans on the comment session felt it was disrespectful for the Dutch defender to include a photo of the incident in his celebration post.

Everton issues Iwobi injury update

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported on Everton having a difficult time under former Chelsea player turned manager, Frank Lampard. The club currently sits in the relegation zone of the Premier League table and is also out of two domestic cup competitions.

Nigerian attacker, Iwobi has been at the centre of the few positives the club has enjoyed this season, having rediscovered his form under the former Derby manager, despite joining the club three years earlier.

The Liverpool-based outfit are now set to be without the former Arsenal man for the rest of the month, after he was injured against Manchester United on Friday.
