Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has provided a cheering update about the injury he suffered last year September claiming that he should be resuming training later in January 2023.

Statement made by Sadiq

“I will be four months into my operation and rehabilitation by next month but I feel good already and will resume working on the pitch next month.
“That is way ahead of my schedule, It’s a miracle that even my doctors can’t believe. I am supposed to be out for at least six months and the doctors insist it has to be that time frame.
“However, I have been told I must be 150% (laughs) fit before I can return in order not to suffer a relapse but from the look of things I will be back in eight weeks. We will see to that or maybe even earlier.”

Chukwueze nets in Villarreal’s win over Valencia

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Nigerian striker Samuel Chukwueze on Saturday, December 31, finally ended his eight-month goal drought without scoring in the Spanish La Liga for Villarreal.

Not been able to score for the Spanish side in the last eight months has been a worrisome issue for the Nigerian before he eventually found the back of the net.

Chukwueze scored in the 45th minute as Villarreal beat visiting Valencia 2-1 in the Spanish topflight battle.

Chukwueze who last scored a league goal for Villarreal in their 2-1 defeat to Alaves on April 30,2022 is enjoying a new lease of life since the arrival of former Quique Setien who replaced Unai Emery in October.
