Former Nigeria international Segun Odegbami has raised panic about the health of his ex-teammate Henry Nwosu, who he claims can no longer walk or sit.

Nwosu, who together with Odegbami won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980 with Nigeria, has been hospitalised for weeks in Asaba, in the Delta State, and his condition is seemingly worsening.

According to a statement Odegbami shared on the World of Legends WhatsApp group, he explained there is need for Nwosu to be taken abroad or to another healthcare facility, where he can receive the highest level of medical treatment for his ailment.

What did Odegbami say?

Odegbami commented that Nwosu's health was not improving and his condition was in fact worsening by the day.

"We must do everything we can not to let him die. He can no longer sit without support. He cannot walk, is losing his memory; no longer eats and has to be fed with liquids only. He is losing his sight and hardly recognises people anymore; he cannot even talk audibly again."

DFA makes donation after appeal

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported on Nwosu receiving a generous amount of N100K from the Delta Football Association.

The donation was made by the chairman of the state's football association, Kenneth Nwamuocha, to go towards his continued medical treatment.

This gesture from the association followed an urgent appeal from Nwosu, who begged with people to help with money to keep him alive.

It was earlier reported that Nwosu's siblings were covering his medical bills, with the former Super Eagles star claiming to have lost his entire fortune on continued hospital treatment.
