  • Emmanuel Dennis, who joined Premier League club Nottingham Forest, has scored his first goal for the newly promoted side
  • The Super Eagles of Nigeria forward found the back of the net with a sublime header in their draw with Aston Villa
  • The lead lasted just seven minutes as Ashley Young pulled one back for the visitors, and that was how it ended

Nigerian international Emmanuel Dennis was on the score sheet in Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, in the English Premier League on Monday night.

The newly-promoted Premier League side agreed to a £20 million summer deal to sign Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis from Watford this summer.

It was his first goal since joining the club, having shrugged off pressure from the first few matches he featured in.

He made his first full league debut in August, as manager Steve Cooper had preferred his compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi upfront.

And it was Dennis who headed home the opener against Villa after he met the ball from a delicious free-kick courtesy of Morgan Gibbs-White, to put the Tricky Trees ahead in the 15th minute.

However, the lead did not last. It took just seven minutes before the visitors restored parity, thanks to Ashley Young’s fantastic shot from outside the area.

Both teams then went into the break with nothing to separate the sides and despite several attempts by both sides to win it, no further goal was scored in the second half, Pulse Sport reports.

The result means Forest move above Leicester, who sit at the bottom of the Premier League.

Okocha spotted at Goodison Park

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha was spotted in the stands as Manchester United defeated Everton at Goodison Park.

The former Bolton Wanderers skipper, an uncle to Alex Iwobi, watched with delight as his nephew ripped the back of the United net in the opening minutes of the encounter.

The Nigerian international set the game alight when he found the back of the net for Everton in the 5th minute from outside the area.

Osimhen set for a return

Sports Brief earlier reported that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is set for a return after training with the Napoli first team on Monday.

Napoli are Europe's entertainers this season, despite not having their talisman for more than a month.

Osimhen has played 5 Serie A matches this season and has scored two goals. When he returns, he should fit right in with the high-flying Napoli aside.
