Aiyegbeni got an incredible pass from Jay-Jay Okocha inside the 18 yard box with 10 minutes to the end of the game, but the former Premier League striker was unable to score despite only having the goalkeeper to beat.

According to the video spotted on Twitter, Aiyegbeni explained that he won't apologise because he actually wanted to score.

“I cannot apologise because it was not a deliberate miss. I seriously wanted to score, but it wasn’t to be. So many strikers have missed chances too, and nobody will apologise so I won’t.”

Kenneth Omeruo scores wonder goal for Leganes in win over tough opponents

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Nigerian defender Kenneth Omeruo scored a fine goal for his side Leganes in an away 2-1 win over Cartagena on 9 October, to end their winless run this season.

Going into the battle against Cartagena, Omeruo and his teammates had failed to win any of their last four games - losing three and drawing one.

There was no goal between these two sides in the first half, but Cartagena came out stronger in the second half and took the lead in the 55th minute through Borja Valle.
