Ibrahim Gusau has emerged as the new President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) after winning the elections conducted in Benin, Edo state on Friday beating the likes of Shehu Dikko.

This latest development means that the 8-year reign of Amaju Pinnick as President of the NFF is over as football lovers in Nigeria are now waiting for the structure Gusau will put in place.

Before the election was conducted in Benin, Seyi Akinwumi and Shehu Dikko were the leading candidates, but they were both beaten by Ibrahim Gusau and Felix Anyansi.

Who was Ibrahim Gusau before becoming NFF boss?

Ibrahim Gusau was the chairman of chairmen of the Nigerian Football Federation and also Zamfara state FA boss before his recent elevation.

Gusau was a Caf committee member and sat on the NFF board as the chairman of all states while serving as the chairman of the Zamfara Football Association.

He was the former President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the chairman of the NFF Security Committee.

Former Super Eagles coach Oliseh gets big job ahead of 2022 World Cup

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh was appointed by the world's football governing body into the technical expert team ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
