English Premier League Club Set to Offer Contract Extension for Impressive Super Eagles Star

Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi has become a very important player for the English Premier League club Everton.

Iwobi is currently in the form of his life and has risen from the fringes to become a key clog in the wheels at Goodison Park.

Soccernet reports that Everton are initiating a contract extension for the Nigerian international who had struggled under previous bosses, including Marco Silva, Rafa Benitez, and Carlo Ancelotti.

Iwobi was criticised by pundits and fans as many tagged him as a flop since he left Arsenal and moved to Everton in the summer of 2019.

However, the 26-year-old has become someone totally different since Frank Lampard took charge of the Toffees as there is a complete turnaround in fortunes for the Super Eagles star.

He was credited for their home win over West Ham following his sensational assist that allowed Neil Marpau to score the only game goal in their first win of the season.

Although he has a contract with the club until 2024, Everton are not taking any chances, with calls beginning to grow for the Arsenal youth academy product to return to the Gunners.

How Frank Lampard is helping Iwobi rediscover his form

Meanwhile, Nigerian international Alex Iwobi had a poor Africa Cup of Nations and he was away on international duty when Frank Lampard was appointed as the Everton manager.

The former Arsenal man has narrated how the tactician helped him overcome the AFCON debacle as he finds his form again.

But Lampard has helped the Super Eagles star find his form again as he now leads the Everton midfield and sometimes plays in other positions.

Etebo joins Greek club Aris Thessaloniki

Sports Brief earlier reported that Nigerian international Oghenekaro Etebo has officially joined Greek side Aris Thessaloniki on a permanent transfer.

The 26-year-old who failed to make a remarkable impact with Sky bet Championship side Stoke City has now been unveiled by Aris Thessaloniki FC of Greece.

Etebo had been on loan at Getafe, Galatasaray and Watford since joining Stoke City on the eve of Russia's 2018 FIFA World Cup.
