The head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Jose Peseiro, has named captain Ahmed Musa and his deputy William Troost-Ekong for the friendly match against Algeria.

The Fennec Foxes of Algeria will host the Super Eagles in an international friendly on September 27 in the town of Oran.

Also invited for the friendly encounter are goalkeepers Francis Uzoho and Maduka Okoye, defenders Kenneth Omeruo, Chidozie Awaziem and Calvin Bassey.

Only Richard Onyedikaof the Belgian top team, Club Brugge, is a new face in the group. Germany –based defender Kevin Akpoguma also returns to the fold.

The match will hold at the 40,000 Stade Olympique in Oran, and the invited players are expected to arrive in the city of Constantine by Monday, September 19.

Due to injuries, several Nigerian players, including Victor Osimhen and Sadiq Umar, were left out of the friendly.

Etebo joins Aris Thessaloniki

Meanwhile, Nigerian international Oghenekaro Etebo has officially joined Greek side Aris Thessaloniki on a permanent transfer.

The 26-year-old who failed to make a remarkable impact with Sky bet Championship side Stoke City has now been unveiled by Aris Thessaloniki FC of Greece.

Etebo had been on loan at Getafe, Galatasaray and Watford since joining Stoke City on the eve of Russia's 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Rudiger sends inspiring message to Sadiq Umar

Sports Brief earlier reported that Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has sent a heartwarming message of support to Real Sociedad forward Umar Sadiq.

Sadiq has been diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee that will keep him out until the end of the season.

The Nigerian forward was in action for his new club Real Sociedad in their 2-1 defeat at Getafe on Sunday but was unable to complete the first half of the encounter due to injury.
