Spanish La Liga Outfit Real Sociedad Provide Injury Update on Super Eagles Striker Sadiq Umar

Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq is set for a spell on the sidelines after he sustained an injury during Real Sociedad’s 2-1 loss at Getafe on Sunday night.

The Super Eagles forward was substituted in the 37th minute of the encounter after he looked injured as he managed to play.

Umar is billed to undergo a test on Monday as doctors will make attempt to determine the extent of the injury.

The team manager of the club Imanol Alguacil has expressed concerns over the striker’s situation as he could be sidelined for some time.

Alguacil said after the game via Complete Sports:

“The image has been ugly, but we have to wait for the tests.

Sadiq linked up with the White and Blue from another LaLiga club, Almeria this summer.

The 25-year-old scored on his debut for the club against Atletico Madrid and was on the scoresheet during that encounter

The injury could also force Sadiq to miss Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly against the Desert Foxes of Algeria on September 27 in Oran.

Mutiu Adepoju likens Umar with Rashidi Yekini

Meanwhile, former Nigerian international Mutiu Adepoju has stated that Real Sociedad's new signing, Umar Sadiq, reminds him of ex-Super Eagles forward Rashidi Yekini.

According to Adepoju, the lanky Umar, who has been impressive in recent times, has all it takes to catch up with Yekini.

The former midfielder stated in a chat with Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo that the former Almeria striker has the ability to adapt quickly.

Sports Brief earlier reported that a former defender at Spanish club Real Madrid, Jonathan Woodgate, has disclosed that Nigerian international Victor Osimhen is destined for the English Premier League.
