Nigerian international Umar Sadiq is reportedly set to finalise a stunning £30 million move to Spanish La Liga outfit Villarreal.

The former Rangers loanee flopped at Ibrox under Steven Gerrard in 2018/19 but has excelled since his nightmare spell away from Roma.

The 25-year-old had just one start during his time at Glasgow Glasgow in the 1-0 League Cup semi-final loss to Aberdeen.

He began his career after he failed to inspire during his Rangers loan as he first joined Serie B side Perugia on loan, where he netted three times in 17 matches.

Sunnews reports that Sadiq began to impress when he joined Partizan, finding the back of the net 23 times in 52 matches for the Serbian club.

In October 2020, he moved to Spanish club Almeria and was crucial to their promotion to the Spanish top-flight last season.

So far, he scored 38 goals for the club since his arrival and made his La Liga debut against reigning champions Real Madrid.

Now, the 25-year-old is ready to move to Villarreal in a huge £30m deal.

Dortmund target Sadiq Umar

Sports Brief earlier reported that Umar Sadiq could be set for a move to the German topflight this summer as Borussia Dortmund are pushing to sign the Nigerian forward.

Dortmund have reportedly opened talks with the Almeria striker to cover the absence Sebastian Haller after he was diagnosed with a malignant testicular tumour.

Sadiq bagged 18 goals and contributed 12 assists to help Almeria secure promotion to the Spanish La Liga and that has prompted some top cubs to ask for his signature.

Diego Costa set for La Liga return

Sports Brief earlier reported that Rayo Vallecano have agreed on a deal in principle to sign former Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

The signing of the 33-year-old was carried out by club President Raul Martin Presa, according to Marca.

The ex-Chelsea marksman will sign a one-year contract plus an option for another and will earn 1.5 million gross per season, which could increase if certain targets are met.
