Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins was mobbed on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria, with a fan claiming the former Inter Milan striker is better than Robert Lewandowski.

‘Obagoal’ remains a household name in Nigeria after he scored 18 goals in 42 appearances for the Super Eagles between 2004 and 2015.

Martins, 37, last played for Chinese club Wuhan FC in 2020 and has since been in Lagos attending to his several businesses.

Footage shows the moment a fan met the striker, who remains one of the richest Nigerian footballers.

A fan was stunned after recognising the superstar on the streets of Lagos as turned-on his phone camera to boast, saying:

“Go and bring your striker! Even the Lewandowski that Barcelona just signed can only try.”

Obafemi Martins played 488 club matches in his career, scoring 183 goals in the process before hanging his boots.

Lewandowski bids farewell to Bayern Munich

Meanwhile, Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski has returned to Germany to say a proper farewell to his former Bayern Munich colleagues, executives and the rest of the club’s personnel.

Players of the La Liga club have been given a couple of days off after they returned from the trip to the United States, and the Pole used his short holiday to make one final stop at Allianz Arena.

Lewandowski used the chance to have a proper send-off ceremony at his former stomping grounds and to mend sour relationships with the hierarchy of the Bundesliga giants due to the ugly way in which his exit happened.

Aubameyang not prepared to leave Barcelona

Sports Brief earlier reported that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is very happy at Barcelona and has no plans of leaving just yet.

The Gabon international signed for Barcelona from Arsenal six months ago but has already been linked with a move away from Camp Nou.

The Blues let go of Romelu Lukaku and are looking at bringing in another striker. They have already signed Raheem Sterling this summer, but reports indicate that Timo Werner is also looking to leave.
