Slovenian club NK Maribor have announced the signing of Super Eagles winger Ishaq Kayode Rafiu from Nigerian League champions Rivers United on a three-year deal.

The club battled serious competition from some African giants before they were finally able to secure the signing of the winger who scored 14 goals at the just concluded Nigerian League season.

During the outgone Nigerian League season, Ishaq Kayode Rafiu was in outstanding form for Rivers United and his performances helped him to get a call into the Super Eagles.

He was in the Super Eagles squad that played against Mexico and Ecuador in the international friendly match that was played in the United States.

According to the confirmation by the club on their Instagram page, NK Maribor explained that they are happy to have signed Ishaq and looking forward to have him in their team.

Ishaq Kayode Rafiu's reaction to Maribor move

"I am looking forward to a new challenge in my career, I want to contribute my share on the field and I can't wait to meet my teammates, the professional staff and join the training sessions.
"I got a lot of information about the club, also heard about the great support of the fans. I believe that together we will bring them many reasons to be satisfied, with new victories and winning trophies."

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen returned to Napoli training after being ordered to take a shower while complaining about a teammate.

Reports emerged from Naples that the Nigerian international had a faceoff with a teammate during a training session at their Castel di Sangro camp.

The 23-year-old was furious with the situation and Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti had to order him to go take a shower.
