Napoli Boss Cristiano Guintoli Reacts Following Reports That Bayern Munich Officially Bid for Osimhen

The sporting director at Italian club Napoli, Cristiano Guintoli, has disclosed that he is not aware that Bayern Munich have officially tendered a bid to sign Victor Osimhen.

Bayern have continued to indicate interest in the Nigerian who scored 18 goals for the Partenopei last season.

The Bundesliga giants are shopping for Robert Lewandowski’s replacement after the Polish striker moved to join Spanish giants Barcelona.

And Osimhen could be moving to the Allianz Arena two years after leaving French club Lille to join Napoli where he has been impressive.

And on Sunday, Italian outlet Il Mattino claimed that Bayern had submitted an enquiry to Napoli for the Nigerian forward.

In his reaction, Giuntoli stated emphatically that he was not aware of Osimhen’s imminent move to Bayern.

He said during a press conference on Monday as per Soccernet.

“Osimhen to Bayern? I am not aware of it. We are very happy to have Lozano, I have no offers, we are betting a lot on him.”

The striker has also been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, as well as Arsenal.

Osimhen ranked 5th most expensive African player

Nigerian international Victor Osimhen who moved to Italian club Napoli in the summer of 2020 has now been ranked as the fifth most expensive African player.

The transfer of the Nigerian international from French club Lille to the Italian outfit has been ranked as the 81st most expensive transfer of all time.

Ivorian forward Nicolas Pepe who joined Arsenal from Lille for €79m is the most expensive African player followed by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who also joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund for €63.75m.

Ighalo named in Saudi Pro League team of the season

Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo has been recognised following his impressive performance in the Saudi Professional Football League last season.

The 33-year-old scored 24 goals last season to emerge the highest scorer as he also inspired Al Hilal to win the league title.

He has been named in the Saudi Professional League team of the season having featured for Al-Shabab in the earlier half of the campaign.
