Villarreal who are Spanish La Liga giants are reportedly pushing hard to sign Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar this summer in case Dia should join Salernitana on loan with buy option.

Unai Emery who is the coach of Villarreal is trying to bolster his squad this summer ahead of the coming La Liga season as he sees the Nigerian striker as someone who can fit his plans.

Last season, Umar Sadiq was in brilliant form for Almeria and helped the team to gain promotion back to the Spanish La Liga.

According to a tweet made by transfer special reporter Romano, Sadiq Umar could be heading to Villarreal this summer.

Nigerian International Odion Ighalo Named in Saudi Pro League Team of the Season

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo was recognised following his impressive performance in the Saudi Professional Football League last season.

The 33-year-old scored 24 goals last season to emerge the highest scorer as he also inspired Al Hilal to win the league title.

He has been named in the Saudi Professional League team of the season having featured for Al-Shabab in the earlier half of the campaign.

The former Manchester United striker scored twice in Al-Hilal’s final league game of the season as they defeated Al-Faisaly 2-1 to win the title.

It was Ighalo’s first since he started playing professional football 17 years ago. His teammate, Salem Al Dawsari was also included in the Team of the Season.

Egypt and former West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi were also included in the squad.

The forward who grew up in the Ajegunle area of Lagos began his professional career at Prime FC of Osun State in 2005 and then moved to Julius Berger FC the following year.
