European Giants Name Former Super Eagles Coach Sunday Oliseh As New Gaffer

Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh will be returning into managing a club as German side SV Straelen have named the Nigerian as their new coach in what is a good development.

Since leaving Fortuna Sittard in 2018, Sunday Oliseh has been without a club although the Nigerian has been involving himself in punditry jobs.

According to the reports on Complete Sports and Thisday, Sunday Oliseh will sign a one-year deal with the side who are campaigning in the 4th tier of the German football.

The reports added that SV Straelen president Hermann Tecklenburg disclosed that Sunday Oliseh will get a one-year contract.

Hermann Tecklenburg's statement about Sunday Oliseh

“Yes, Sunday Oliseh will be our new coach. A good 14 days ago we had delicious asparagus at the Straelener Hof.
“That was a good conversation. In the last 24 hours we were also able to discuss an employment contract until June 30, 2023. On Wednesday 21 June, Sunday will lead the first practice session. We look forward to working together.”

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how the Audacity to Refuse book by Super Eagles legend Sunday Oliseh has continued to generate controversies after it was published on April 10, 2021.

The book traces Oliseh's untold insider story from being a young footballer in Nigeria to starring in some of Europe’s greatest clubs.

It shares the former Juventus of Italy midfielder’s rise to worldwide fame while dealing with innumerable trials and tribulations.

Nigerian outlet Thisday reports that Oliseh had alleged in the book that there was a gang-up by senior members of the Eagles against Yekini before the World Cup.

The late Rashidi Yekini remains Nigeria’s all-time record scorer having scored 37 goals for the national team in 62 appearances.
