Victor Osimhen has explained that there is now solidarity in the Super Eagles among the players claiming that the new coach Jose Peseiro has brought togetherness to the team.

Recently the Nigerian Football Federation named Jose Peseiro as the Super Eagles coach after Austin Eguavoen and his coaching crew were dismissed.

Failure for them to qualify for the 2022 World Cup made the Nigerian Football Federation to send them packing.

Jose Peseiro however took over and he suffered two defeats against Mexico and Ecuador in international friendly games.

The Super Eagles bounced back in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers where they have recorded 2 wins in two encounters.

According to the report on Soccernet, Victor Osimhen explained that he and his teammates have been following instructions from Jose Peseiro.

Victor Osimhen's reaction about Super Eagles

“All the instructions he gave to us, I believe we carried out about 80 or 90% of them. Of course, I’m happy to get four goals, and I’m happy for my other teammates who got their goals as well. The likes of Lookman, Moffi and Dennis got their first goals as well.
“There is solidarity in the team, this is what the coach has taught us and I believe that as a group we have the quality to continue to build on this momentum.”

Victor Osimhen responds when asked about surpassing Rashidi Yekini’s record

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how despite scoring four goals in Nigeria’s 10-0 thrashing of Sao Tome & Principe in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Victor Osimhen has stated that Rashidi Yekini remains the greatest striker Nigeria ever had.

Osimhen has now scored 15 goals for Nigeria’s senior national team, having made 22 appearances as many believe he could eventually break the goals record set by the late legend.

Score Nigeria reports that Rashidi Yekini scored 37 goals in 62 matches for Nigeria and no player has reached such a feat, but Osimhen who is just 23 years old could smash that record.
