Drama as President Buhari Asks Stunning Question As Eagles Star Omeruo Presents Him Jersey, Ball in Spain

Super Eagles star Kenneth Omeruo met with President Muhammadu Buhari who is in Spain for the Nigerian-Spanish Business Forum in Madrid.

The CD Leganes defender expressed delight in meeting the Nigerian president who is on a three-day tour of the Spanish capital.

Nigerian outlet Thisday reports that Buhari is expected to return to his home country on Friday and Omeruo quickly took time out to present him with a signed jersey and ball.

Spotted at the moment were Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, former Super Eagles forward Daniel Amokachi who is now an assistant to the president resident on sports and other government officials.

There was mild drama the moment Omeruo walked up beside the president as Buhari asked:

“I hope you are not taller than me?”

Omeruo has been capped 57 times by Nigeria with two goals to his name. The 28-year-old also made the team to the 2019 and 2021 AFCON finals.

He was not called up for Nigeria’s friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador as well as the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have lost their second friendly match in the United States after they were defeated 1-0 by South American side Ecuador.

Nigeria who earlier lost 2-1 to Mexico at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, targeted a win against Ecuador at the 25,000 capacity Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

However, it was La Tri the only goal of the game which came as early as the 3rd minute courtesy of a fine header from Pervis Estupinan who netted from close range.

1990 AFCON winner jailed for life

Sports Brief earlier reported that African football legend and former Algeria international Rabah Madjer has been sentenced to jail for corrupt and fraudulent activities.

The 1990 Africa Cup of Nations winner has been found guilty of corruption by an Algerian court and will serve 18 months in prison.

According to Pulse, the ex-footballer was involved in fraudulent practices with a business partner, using a newspaper they owned as a cover-up.
