He also made his 100th appearance for the Ligue 1 outfit and as such, Simon took to his Instagram handle to write:

"It’s such a great honour to have played 100 games with Nantes. Big thanks to the coaches, technical staff, players and fans for all the love and support.
"It was a fantastic season and I’m proud to be part of the historical moment of this great club. Allez Nantes."

And although Leon Balogun was not in action during the final of the Europa League as Rangers Lost to Eintracht Frankfurt, the Nigerian defender celebrated winning the Scottish Cup with his club.

He played all 90 minutes to help Rangers defeat Hearts 2-0 in the final.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen helped his side qualify for the Champions League with his impressive performance in the cause of the season.

The striker recently bagged the best U-23 player in the Serie A and was quick to react:

He said, "For me, this is a big milestone! Having gone through a lot of tough times, from multiple injuries and all, I still stood my ground against all odds but I won’t be able to do these things without the support of my family, friends, fans and of course my teammates, the coaches, I sincerely appreciate y’all.”

Okoye dreams of playing in three World Cups

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles' number one shot-stopper Maduka Okoye has expressed disappointment over the 2022 FIFA World Cup miss but declared that he can still feature in three editions of the tournament in future.

Ghana qualified for Qatar 2022 at the expense of Nigeria and Okoye lamented that the dream of playing in this year’s World Cup had been dashed.

Okoye, who was born in Dusseldorf, Germany has expressed optimism and assured that the Super Eagles would return to winning ways.
