Idah, who is based in South Africa and well known as a football pundit narrated how he cried after Nigeria failed to qualify for the World Cup.

He stated that failure to defeat Ghana has spurred him to eye the position of the NFF president in his bid to turn Nigerian football around.

He said on Brila FM programme ‘No Holds Barred’:

“Yes, the time has come, this is our game. We’ve kept quiet for this long and just watching all that has been happening.
“I told myself I won’t go into coaching because those who call the shots can decide to fire you just because they do not like you. I want to be in a position where I would be able to sack people too.
“On a more serious note, the time has for us to change Nigerian football; time has come for us to do something different.
“I came to Abuja to watch Nigeria vs Ghana and after the game at the stadium, I almost had a heart attack. I got back to my room and cried and cried and asked ‘what is this?’ ‘What has happened to our football’?”

Christian Chukwu cautions NFF over Peseiro’s appointment

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported that former coach of the Super Eagles, Christian Chukwu, has told the Nigeria Football Federation to ensure the new technical adviser of the national team Jose Peseiro stays in Nigeria.

The NFF announced the appointment of Peseiro over the weekend as preparations for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers are set to commence.

Since Nigeria fired Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles have been without a substantive head coach as Augustine Eguavoen was appointed to take charge temporarily.
