Semi Ajayi says he is extremely excited to have signed a new contract with West Bromwich Albion as the English Championship club continues its chase for promotion to the Premier League.

Ajayi signed a three-year extension on his current deal at the Hawthorns which will keep him with the English Championship team until the summer of 2025.

According to a report via Punch, the 28-year-old defender revealed his focus now is to help West Brom return to the English Premier League.

“The talks have been going on for a very long time so I’m glad we’ve finally got it all sorted.
“I can now look forward to next season and doing my best to try and help this club get back to the Premier League.”

The Super Eagles defender joined West Brom in 2019 and has made a total of 110 appearances for the Baggies, scoring just 9 goals in the process.

Steve Bruce lavishes praise on Ajayi after contract extension

Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion manager, Steve Bruce is also delighted Semi Ajayi has decided to stay with the Baggies by signing a new deal.

According to the BBC, Bruce described the Super Eagles defender as one of West Brom’s best player in the outgoing season since he took over reigns at the English Championship club.

The former Newcastle United manager believes Ajayi will play a key role next season as West Brom pushes to regain a place in the English Premier League.

Semi Ajayi becomes Nigeria’s second most expensive defender

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Semi Ajayi is now valued at £4.50million becoming Nigeria’s second most expensive defender after Torino’s Ola Aina who is currently valued at £9.00m.

Ajayi has been outstanding this season for West Bromwich Albion who are currently top on the table with 69 points after 34 matches.

The 26-year-old’s worth increased considerably from £2.00m to £4.50m ahead of Udinese’s William Troost-Ekong who is valued at £3.60m.
