Jubilation in Nigeria As NFF Release Date When New Super Eagles Coach Will Be Announced

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed they will confirm the new coach of the Super Eagles on Thursday, May 12.

The 3-time Africa Cup of Nations champions has been without a coach since the NFF sacked Augustine Eguavoen and his technical crew after Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

According to a report via Punch, President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick revealed the football body has been interviewing candidates for the vacant position and will confirm their candidate on Thursday.

“The outcome of the meeting with the minister was very good and cordial. All the minister wants is fair play and not just Peseiro, he wants us to weigh other options and we will be announcing the new Eagles coach latest by Thursday.
“I don’t know who that will be yet, because we are talking to many of them and we’ve had zoom meetings with them.”

The NFF is set to confirm either Jose Poseiro, Ernesto Valverde, Laurent Blanc, Phillip Cocu, or Walter Zenga who have all been mentioned as probable head coach options for the Super Eagles.

Cyriel Dessers reacts to latest Super Eagles callup

Meanwhile, Cyriel Dessers is delighted to once again be recalled to the Super Eagles team ahead of the international friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador Soccernet reports.

The Feyenoord attacker has been in superb form in his Dutch side and is the top scorer in the Europa Conference League with 10 goals.

Dessers has only been capped once by the Super Eagles and will fancy another opportunity to represent Nigeria.

30 players called for friendly ties against Mexico, Ecuador

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Nigerian Football Federation released the names of the 30 players picked to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their coming international friendly ties against Mexico and Ecuador.

Salisu Yusuf is expected to lead the team to the United States where these two international friendly games will be played.

On the list of the invited players for these two coming games is Akwa United goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka and Enyimba stopper Ojo Olorunleke.
